Where does the money come from to run Advantage Smiles For Kids?
Unlike for-profit businesses, operating revenues come mainly from charitable donors committed to the aims of the organization. In addition to cash gifts, the organization seeks sponsors, grants, endowments and in-kind and quid pro quo gifts. For example, orthodontists and dental professionals may choose to provide their services gratis or at reduced fees to make it possible for more children to be served by available funds. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service classifies Advantage Smiles For Kids as 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Yearly financial statements are prepared by an Oregon CPA firm and audited by a separate firm. Management services for Advantage Smiles for Kids are provided by Northwest Professional Management, Inc., an affiliate of the “Advantage Community ” of companies.

| What is the requirement of the parent or caregiver?
The parent or caregiver must be willing to provide prompt and reliable transportation; promote and support good oral hygiene in the child; and be willing to provide, whenever possible, at least a nominal show of financial participation commensurate with his or her ability, even if such funds are only those that can be raised through such endeavors as garage sales or car washes. The amount provided by the caregiver is less important than a willingness to participate in the development of the financial treatment plan. |
